According to Andrea Gomes from OctoClean, “Hygiene Theater can be defined as cleaning or disinfecting practices that are performed just for the sake of looking good, or to provide a false sense of security against COVID-19.” This concept was introduced back in July 2020 by The Atlantic. Derek Thompson from The Atlantic states, “For one thing, an obsession with contaminated surfaces distracts from more effective ways to combat COVID-19. “People have prevention fatigue,” Goldman told me. “They’re exhausted by all the information we’re throwing at them. We have to communicate priorities clearly; otherwise, they’ll be overloaded.” Triple D’s Cleaning Service still recommends that people should still wash their hands, wear a mask, avoid touching their face when they’ve been in public places and social distance.
